Each month the whole studio works on a technique challenge. While the topic is the same for all students, the challenges are multi-level and may cover one or more suzuki book levels. This provides review for more advanced students and a better learning environment for beginning students- who will be able to observe the more advanced technical exercises.
I have listed all of the challenges below (Scroll to the bottom). Please click on a month to learn more about the challenge. You’ll also find some helpful tips and reminders.
Worksheets are handed out at the start of each month and MUST be turned in at the end of the month. Your worksheets are my method for tracking your progress. Completed work will be placed in your portfolio. The worksheet is how we communicate what to work on.
- I mark items to practice with a star.
- Mastered items are “checked off”. Children should color in the items checked off.
- Notes can be taken on the worksheet itself.
- Bring your worksheets to group class!
It’s perfectly acceptable to partially complete a challenge. “Completion” is determined based on each students personal level of ability.
Students will have a chance to cycle back to each challenge in August. You’ll have an opportunity to check off more exercises. Each August we play “Candy Land” to review the techniques covered over the year.
Some challenges are part of a book graduation. 100% completion is required to graduate a Suzuki book level (Ex Suzuki Book 1).
