Strings come in sizes according to your violin. Match the string size to your violin. The wrong size will not work. A 1/2 violin needs 1/2 sized strings. I can install new strings for you. It’s always a good idea to have a full set on hand, rather than purchase individual strings. Strings should be replaced once per year for beginners and more often for advanced players. Rental instruments do not come with fresh strings, they’re only changed when broken. Fresh strings are important for ease of playing, beautiful tone and correct intonation. At the intermediate level students begin experimenting with different string brands for tonal qualities. Most people land on a favorite brand or two after they get a full sized violin. It’s not necessary to put higher quality strings on violins sized smaller than 1/2.
